Grades
Grades are non-negotiable.  You will be held accountable for turning in assignments on time, participating, and keeping track of your grade progress.  Keep returned and graded assignments until you are sure they have been entered correctly.  Teachers are human—we make typos, but you must provide proof of your correct grade in order for it to be changed in the grade book.
Absences
If you have an excused absence, please email me to let me know you will not be attending class.  For every day that you are absent, you receive one day to make up the work.  Missed assignments can be obtained from the class website or an email to me.  Should you miss a test, you will be expected to return the next day ready to take it either before school, during lunch, or after school.  Failure to do so will result in a lower grade.
If you have an unexcused absence, you will not be allowed to make up any assignments from the day you missed.  For any class activities that you fail to participate in due to your absence, you will receive a zero.  Late homework that you turn in upon your return to class will receive a maximum of half credit.
Late Work
All late work will be given a maximum of half credit after one day.  Assignments turned in after one day late will receive zero credit.
Re-Takes & Re-Writes
Any student with a grade below a C on a formal test or essay is eligible for one re-write or re-take.  Those students who feel a grade of a C or above on a formal test or essay does not accurately reflect their understanding of the content can see me to state their case and may, or may not, be granted a re-take or re-write.  Any re-take or re-write must be finished within the time frame set by Miss Ryder.

Academic Integrity
Any violation of the academic integrity policy, which includes but is not limited to plagiarism, copying other students’ work, and cheating, is strictly prohibited in the classroom.  Upon a student’s first offense, the assignment will be marked with a zero, he/she will receive a verbal warning, and a call will be made to the parents.  A second offense warrants a referral to Mr. Gallegos.
Respect
Above all, each student is expected to show the utmost respect in the classroom.  This ranges from appreciating the opinions and contributions of other students to obeying classroom rules to keeping the room and property of Miss Ryder in pristine condition.  Should a student’s attitude reflect a lack of respect in any way, he/she must have a private meeting with me to discuss his/her behavior.  If attitude continues to be an issue, a call will be made home to the parent.
I look forward to a great semester with you all!  If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me via email at any time.
Sincerely,
